Spain’s indignados accuse police of violence

Photograph: Emilio Morenatti/AP Spain’s indignados gathered again in the emblematic Puerta del Sol early on Sunday to protest against what they saw as excessive violence when riot police cleared the square of a previous demonstration in the early hours of the morning. The version of events provided by those in the square when it was cleared at 5am clashed with that of Spain’s interior ministry, which claimed dozens of protests around the country had come to an end “without incidents”.
