Volvo, Google working on Android-based infotainment system

Volvo and Google have teamed up to create a truly Android-based infotainment system. Unlike Android Auto, which offers some of the functionality and features we’ve come to expect from Android, Volvo says the new infotainment system focuses on “connected and predictive services in and around the car,” along with the ability to take advantage of Android’s app store. Details are still thin, but Volvo says the new infotainment system will begin appearing in new vehicles as early as 2019. Count on more details to surface during Google’s I/O conference later this week. ……
